Heavy-vehicle recovery often begins before a damaged truck or bus can be towed. A rollover, road obstruction or major roadside incident may require controlled pulling, lifting, repositioning and stabilised towing at the scene. This HOWO 6x4 heavy rotator wrecker is configured for recovery fleets that handle large commercial vehicles and need more than a basic tow connection. The rear-tandem chassis provides a heavy recovery platform, while the rotating boom supports lifting and repositioning work. The supplied configuration states an 18-ton rear underlift, a 40-ton recovery scope for the disabled vehicle's gross mass and two 20-ton hydraulic winches. These are separate system ratings and must be applied according to the final load charts, vehicle weight, road conditions and recovery method.

Underlift and Winch Arrangement The rear hydraulic underlift is stated at 18 tons and is intended for suitable heavy-vehicle towing applications. Two hydraulic winches are stated at 20 tons each, with 25 m steel ropes and 16 mm rope diameter listed in the configuration. The winch ratings describe the individual pulling systems and do not increase the underlift rating or create a combined towing capacity. Before operation, the recovery team should match the underlift mode, winch line pull, vehicle weight, axle loading, towing geometry and road conditions to the approved operating documents.
